The blue sweetgrass has the same genotype as a regular sweetgrass with the addition of the dominant slate factor (D) which dilutes black pigment to blue.
Genotype b'b' cgcg Dd, black winged bronze based with gray and dominant slate.
When breeding these three results are produced: Blue sweetgrass, lavender sweetgrass and sweetgrass.
